The Dickenson County Litter Control and Recycling Department will be temporarily closing the Recycling Drop Off Trailers at Clinchco, Clintwood and Haysi effective Friday May 1, 2020. Our decision to close the Recycling Trailers is a combination of the COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of recycling markets, it has also become a financial burden at this time. According to Dickenson County Recycling Coordinator Deputy Eugene Mullins “we have struggled over the past few months to find someone to take our paper, plastic and cardboard. At this time we are temporarily closing the recycling trailers and once the recycling markets pick back up we will deploy the trailers back out into the three communities for the public to use”. Recycling nation-wide has been on a downward decline as a result of world markets and since the COVID-19 pandemic. The volume of trash has doubled and even tripled in many areas of the country.
Citizens are reminded that effective May 1, 2020 NO recycling materials are to be deposited at the three locations. Please contact the Dickenson County Litter Control office for more details at 276-926-1600.
