[ARCHIVED] Important Information Regarding COVID-19 Screening & Testing

Dickerson County

Dickenson County residents. This is very important information regarding COVID-19 screening and testing. This is the most up to date information from our regional Health Department. Please share and stay safe!

Dickenson County Hospital (Ballad Health) is testing individuals that meet criteria for testing. Individuals that are concerned and think they need to be tested can call 1-833-822-5523 and the staff will screen them to see if they meet criteria for testing.

Please note: "wanting to be tested is not currently an indication for testing." However, if an individual is concerned, they can contact the 1-833-822-5523 number and if they meet criteria, they will be tested.

There is one practice in Dickenson County that has the ability to test in addition to the hospital (see the information below). Others, will be able to test as soon as test kits become available. The recommendation is currently, stay home when you are sick, self monitor for fever, cough and shortness of breath. If symptoms do become severe and you seek medical care, contact your medical care provider to let them know that you are experiencing a fever, cough and shortness of breath so that your provider can be prepared to care for you.

These are the doctor’s offices that are able to test for COVID-19. In Dickenson County, none of the physicians offices are sending the specimens to private labs.

Doctor office information:
CURRENTLY CAN TEST Dickenson Medical Associates, 364 Hospital Dr, Clintwood, VA 24228-6786 - has the ability to collect the specimen, but takes specimen to Ballad Health (Dickenson Hospital) for testing.

CURRENTLY CANNOT TEST BUT WILL IN FUTURE Full Care Medical Center, 163 Number Ten Street, Clinchco, Virginia - has capability to test, but has no test kits at this time. Will be able to when test kits are made available.

CURRENTLY CANNOT TEST BUT WILL IN FUTURE Stone Mountain Clinic, 162 Medical Center Blvd, Haysi, VA - has ability to test, but not testing at this time. Needs employees fit tested for N-95.

In addition you can always contact your personal health care provider and see what their individual practices are for screening and testing.

As I said, this is the most up to date information from the health department. As it updates, I will do my best to get the word out. Also, please follow www.dickensonva.org for our latest County information.
