The Dickenson County Board of Supervisors has declared the contents of Haysi High School as surplus property. Accordingly, on Friday, September 20, 2019 and Saturday, September 21, 2019, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. there will be an open house to allow the public to pick up any available items which are on display. Available items include, but are not limited to: student desks, tables, chairs, books, and other small items.
During this time period, the County will take names for those who wish to take possession of larger items that need to be removed, e.g. shelving, lockers, bleachers, etc. Actual removal will be scheduled for a later date in October or early November 2019. Individuals MUST be able to provide your own labor in removing, carrying, and hauling of all items individuals wish to take.
The cost is FREE, but the Board of Supervisors asks that, in lieu of payments to the County, that individuals donate to the Dickenson County Department of Social Services Emergency Fund or the Dickenson County Food Bank. Donations to both organizations can be made at the Clintwood DSS Office.
