Officers of Election

The Dickenson County Registrar's Office and the Electoral Board are always looking for citizens to serve as an Officer of Election. It takes up to 100 Officers of Election working in the 12 polling locations to conduct an election in Dickenson County.

If you are a registered voter in the commonwealth of Virginia and you would like to be a part of the election process, you can serve your community and earn a little extra money as an Officer of Election.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Arrive at voting precinct at 5:00 AM
  • Setting up election equipment, open polls at 6:00 AM
  • Checking in voters
  • Assisting voters with the voting equipment
  • Overseeing election procedures to ensure a fair and impartial election
  • Remain at the voting precinct until the polls close at 7:00 PM and all closing tasks have been completed
  • Participation in a training session before each election is required.
