Rescue Squad & Fire Department

Clintwood Volunteer Fire Department

The Clintwood Volunteer Fire Department is a fire system with 40 members. Each member is sworn to uphold the provisions of the Town of Clintwood and Dickenson County in order to protect the lives and property of all residents in Dickenson County.

The Department is a central element in our local government' effort to promote life safety by coordinating the efforts of it's special teams dealing with fire suppression, hazardous materials, public education and the development and enforcement of ordinances and fire codes.

To our government, we pledge to uphold our responsibilities for fire and life safety. We will continue our service delivery goals by providing the highest level of fire protection with maximum efficiency while operating within the limits of existing resources.

To the citizens we protect, we pledge to provide twenty-four hour a day protection from the devastation of fire. Beyond the immediate crisis, the Fire Department will continue to promote fire safety education to all of our citizens, from adolescent to adult.

To our members, the Fire Department pledges to uphold the traditions of the fire service by never sacrificing the safety of it's members. We will continue to take an aggressive approach to the fire problem through education and training for all members in the department.

Haysi Rescue Squad

Caring for you since founded in 1966, and supported by dedicated and highly trained members, we offer around the clock coverage to our community. Volunteers are the foundation of our membership, but we do have some paid members to help enhance our services and provide the highest level of pre-hospital care available in the area.

The Haysi Rescue Squad is dedicated to assisting the residents of the Town of Haysi, and the surrounding residents of Dickenson County. If you have an Emergency Dial 9-1-1, we have two 4×4 Basic and Advance Life Support equipped Dodge Ram Type 1 units ready to serve you in your time of need. Our Rescue Squad only responds to 9-1-1 emergencies and we do not perform routine transportation services.

We are always looking for members who feel the need to give back to the community, and help other in their time or need. Rescue squad membership is open to all persons regardless of race, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, status, or handicap. If you're a trained EMT we could use your help, and if you're not trained we can help train you. If you don't want to be medically trained, we still need members to help maintain our building and vehicles, and help with other tasks that help keep our rescue squad in operation.
